The weekend begins with the Board meeting on Friday evening, followed by a reception and an opportunity to share the fiber projects you've been working on recently.
On Saturday, a full day of classes is planned. During lunch, Marla Day from Kansas State University's College of Health and Human Sciences will present a program about Nelly Don and the dresses she designed to meet the needs of working women. Following lunch, our President, Janet Hamous, will conduct the business meeting before afternoon classes resume.
There will be space for guild exhibits. The Pete Soeken Award for weaving and KVFG Award for spinning will be given, so bring your items for entry for them.
Keynote Speaker Information
Marla Day received her B.S. and M.S. in Apparel and Textiles from Kansas State University. She has been actively involved in the university’s Historic Costume and Textile Museum for much of her career, as well as being a K-State Research and Extension associate in textiles.
She has been responsible for numerous curated exhibits including: Mantles for women: Rites of passage; Nelly Don: Dresses that worked for women; Woven wonders: A cross-section of American history; and the exhibit catalog Life passages: Women, dress and culture
